My friends, how desperately do we need to be loved and to love - Chief Dan George

It has been a long week.

I have watched my closest Aunty, my dad's sister, lose her man, the love of her life. I have devoted myself to her this week, as I could do nothing else, and still it doesn't ease her pain. Her partner was killed on his motorbike, on a social ride on Sunday morning, with a close group of friends they call 'the church' because of their sunday morning ritual. He was 52. The funeral was friday, and I am exhausted.

Andrew also bought chickens yesterday, so now we have 3 more animals running around. Crazy weekend trying to finish off their house and monitor dog-chicken relations and try to get them settled in. Photos soon :-)

We went to the Brisbane Roller Derby on saturday night, my first one ever, they're trying for a revival of it over here, even though the teams have been competing underground for awhile I think they're trying to bring it back to the mainstream. Photos of that when I get them off Sarah :-)

And.... I handed in my 3000 word breastfeeding assignment, so I'm feeling somewhat relieved.. still I am so so behind, another big one due this week. I'm exhausted. Did I say that already???

Work, last Tuesday?? Getting cold - felt like first proper Autumn day. Newly thrifted vintage wool vest, thrifted white belt, skirt & red stockings - I can't remember

Wednesday - funeral planning in morning and work in afternoon.
Thrifted red dress, Thrifted shoes $3, cat secondhand too haha

Andrew and I at the wake. This dress has seen 2 funerals and a wedding in the past 6 months - and nothing else I don't think

A night in the valley

Saturday night - drove some of the girls from work down to brisbane to see Andrew Morris play at the Powerhouse. Dinner at Tibetan Kitchen - I had my favourite-to-die-for Tofu Curry. It's made with sour cream, coconut milk, lime and coriander. New thrifted necklace - it was a bit expensive at $15 but it's lovely and kind of aztec designed.

I really hate my knees

Work today: dress - new to me from ebay, slip - old thrifted, belt - thrifted, boots - new to me from etsy

Can't believe I finally have these boots. Now I just need my knees to go on a diet

New tote from Etsy - makes me smile!

Yesterday's work outfit (very average)

Headband - borrowed
Cardigan - old thrifted
Stripe top - old thrifted
Jeans - Lucky Brand USA
Little apple broach - recently thrifted from Cooroy

And today's not-so-great effort at aproning up my wardrobe (in my defense I could only find 1 apron unpacked and was having a fat day so I needed that long skirt, and it's still HOT)

I just wanted to show that I did keep to my word!

Green envy

I managed to find this, at Caboolture of all places, a few days ago on my travels. It's genuine vintage, "Jonathon Kerk" of Sydney, 100% polyester. Oops I almost wrote 100% beautiful. It seriously made my day. It's so sixties, and the bottoms are tiny and sooo gathered and barely make it over my ahum.. BUT I have like.. at least 6 months to lose a few kilos and then me and this bikini are going to be best friends

Gotcha

So here's a better photo of that cute little denim dress!

And god I love that cardigan to bits already.

I really need to find a better place to take pictures, maybe outside, and put more effort into it. But here's today's outfit (blessed by ebay cardigan that finally came in the mail!) and new denim dress from the Cooroy Lifeline Denim & Country Fair. Roll on winter!

And yesterday's outfit for work...

Skirt: Thrifted from Caboolture, Tshirt: Thrifted from Caboolture

Tshirt: A rabbit called hope (in french)
So this is the start of my blog, the first blog I've had since the old Livejournal days.. what fabulous days they were!
I'm really inspired by a few amazing ladies who have no idea who I am but I've been transfixed on their blogs for the past few days... http://thriftcandy.blogspot.com/ and http://prettysmartgirlart.blogspot.com/ and http://acupfullofsunshine.blogspot.com/ so thankyou!

On tuesday night we went to Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros at the Hi-Fi in West End. We were tired, but they were awesome. Much more than I expected, the audience adored them though so it all came together in a wonderful spectacular warm and fuzzy hippie love hug - and alex. I've been thrifting quite regularly lately, after a long dry spell - outfit was some of newly acquired things plus some old things.. so yeah, hi

Top: thrifted from Caboolture, Skirt: old thrift (can't remember where)

Shoes: $2 thrifted awesomeness =)
